Brain Memo privacy policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026
Brain Memo is designed so your recordings never leave your device. The developer runs no servers that receive your audio, transcripts or summaries, and the app has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.
What stays on your device
Your recordings, imported audio, transcripts, summaries, action items, bookmarks, speaker names and voiceprints, search index and settings are created and stored only in the app's private storage on this device. Transcription, speaker recognition, summaries, translation, search and AI chat all run on the device. The database is encrypted with a key kept in the device's secure storage, and the app's data is excluded from cloud backups and device-to-device transfers.
Permissions
- Microphone: only to record when you start a recording or add a voice.
- Notifications: to show recording and transcription progress, and the reminders you set.
- Face ID or fingerprint: only if you turn on App lock. Your device checks it; the app never receives biometric data.
- Files: only the audio files you choose to import.
Internet use
The app connects to the internet only to download its AI models when you ask it to, from Hugging Face and GitHub. As with any download, those services receive your IP address and standard request details. No recordings or other app content are sent.
When data leaves your device
Only when you choose: when you export or share a recording, transcript or summary through your device's share options, and when you send a report about an AI response. A report includes only the reason you pick, any comment you write, the AI response text if you tick that box, and the name of the AI model. Reports are used only to make the app's AI safer and more accurate, and are deleted within 12 months.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete a recording (with its transcript, summaries and action items), a saved voice or a downloaded model at any time in the app. Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data. To have a report you sent deleted, contact us.
Children
Brain Memo is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
